Headstones And Memorials

Practicalities

If you’ve chosen a headstone or memorial plaque, you can contact a stonemason who can advise and help create a lasting memorial for your child. They are also able to design cremation plaques as well

When you contact your chosen Stonemason, being able to give a grave number or reference or detailed sketch of the location of the grave is helpful. Or they will visit the cemetery and meet you there to locate it.

  • At your appointment at the workshop/showroom or cemetery, they will discuss the options for sizes, colours and finishes of the memorial, and help you with the wording and layout of the inscription
  • They will guide you through the current churchyard/cemetery regulations regarding memorials and provide you with contact details of the church wardens, if necessary. You will have it explained to you what the current rules are for your chosen cemetery, which will dictate the type of memorial you will be able to choose
  • You will be provided with a quote, and any fees that may be payable to the churchyard / cemetery
  • You will be sent an outline sketch of the proposed memorial, with dimensions. We recommend you pin this to a notice board, the fridge, somewhere you will see it often. This can be a great tool to help you get used to what it will look like, and may highlight any changes you need / want to make before the work commences
  • The final balance will be sent once the memorial is completed. If you are struggling to pay this in one lump sum; do not panic. The stonemasons can discuss a payment plan and you can obtain additional financial help from A LITTLE PIECE OF HOPE
